An amazing 4WD tour of the central Flinders Ranges!
Norm and Coralie picked us up in Hawker at 0900 and took us through the Bunyeroo Valley and the Brachina Gorge, returning along the Moralana Scenic Drive and getting back to our accommodation in the early evening after a very full day out. Norm and Coralie have in-depth knowledge of the region’s flora and fauna, the landscape and the geology (plus the best photo opportunities) which they were happy to share with us. Norm took us to the ‘Golden Spike’ that was installed in the Brachina Gorge following the discovery there of fossils of multi-celled organisms which led to the recent definition of a new geological period (the ‘Ediacaran’). As a well-qualified 4WD trainer/instructor, Norm is a very safe driver and we travelled the dirt roads in his well-equipped Toyota Landcruiser. (I would not have wanted to risk our hire car on those roads!). Creature comforts weren’t overlooked either and we enjoyed morning tea, picnic lunch and afternoon coffee with Coralie’s home-baked muffins and cookies. We thoroughly enjoyed our day out and would highly recommend Pindan Tours.
